Well
here is my little neat story of how I became
a NASCAR and Rusty Wallace fan: My
brother's girlfriend first really got him into
racing (She's a Bill Elliott fan and he was
a Davey Allison fan and now a Mark Martin fan).
Well my dad who does not really care too much
about racing decided that he was going to pick
on my brother a little bit, LOL. So he looked
through the starting lineup of a race in the
sports section of his newspaper one Sunday and
he saw the name Rusty Wallace. My dad liked
the name so he picked him out and told my brother
that Rusty was going to win the race.
Neither one of us knew anything about racing.
I can remember when I was littler my dad flipping
through the tv stations and watching a little
of the Daytona 500 or something, but that's
it. And at the time, my dad had no clue that
Rusty was one of the top drivers in NASCAR,
he just liked the name, LOL.
Well over
the next few weeks after that, my dad listened
to the races (we don't have cable so at the
time we just listened to them on the radio).
And sure enough, Rusty did win a race and of
course my dad had to rub it in with my brother
:o) My dad soon lost interest and quit listening,
but I had got hooked. I would turn the radio
to the race on Sunday every chance that I got
and of course I just stuck with Rusty. I began
to slowly learn more and more about NASCAR and
Rusty. And I continued to pull for Rusty because
the more I learned, the more I liked him as
a driver and a person. It soon became a normal
Sunday afternoon event for me to turn the radio
on and listen to the race and I'd watch it on
tv whenever the network stations would carry
a race. I became a more avid fan with every
race.
My brother
and his girlfriend soon realized how much I
was getting into racing so they told me that
whenever they were home to come and watch the
race on tv with them. You can say that
I became a fan by luck, but I believe that it
was just meant to be.
