Rusty retired from NASCAR racing at the end of the 2005 season, but he
still remains very active in auto racing. Rusty is an
announcer
for ESPN/ ABC and will start announcing their NASCAR Cup races in 2007.
Rusty Wallace Incorporated (RWI) is Rusty's corporate venture which
consists of several business segments including his NASCAR Busch team
as well as race track design with the building of Iowa Speedway in
2005-2006.

Rusty and some highlights of his driving career are found
below:
Rusty's
full name is Russell William Wallace, he was born on August 14, 1956 to
parents Russ and Judy Wallace, and he grew up in St. Louis,
Missouri. Rusty has 2 brothers, Mike and Kenny, who also have
racing careers.
Rusty
started racing stock cars in 1973 at Lakehill Speedway in
Missouri. He won more than 200 feature races from 1974 to
1978. In 1979 he then joined USAC (Unitsted States Auto Club) stock car
division and won the USAC Rookie of the Year Award. On his
way to Winston Cup, Rusty also won the ASA Championship in
1983.
Rusty
began hisWinston Cup career in 1980 running 2 races driving the #16
Chevrlet for Roger Penske: (Atlanta where he finished 2nd and Charlotte
where he finished 14th). Rusty Wallace won the prestigious
Winston Cup Rookie of the Year award in 1984, his first full year on
the circuit. His first Winston Cup win came at Bristol Motor
Speedway on April 6, 1986 racing the Alugard/Blue Max
Pontiac. He was the 1989 Winston Cup Champion. Rusty
also won the 1989 Winston "All Star" race, the 1996 inaugural Thunder
Special race at Suzuka, Japan, and the 1998 Bud Shootout, and the 1991
IROC Championship. Rusty Wallace was also inducted on
February 1, 1998 into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame.
Miller
became Rusty's sponsor in 1990 while he was driving for Raymond
Beadle
In 1991, Rusty took his sponsor, Miller, and joined Penske
Racing
where he would remain as driver of the #2 Miller car until he retired
in 2005. 1992 brought one win, but it was the birth of
Rusty's
infamous "Midnight" car which ran for 6 total seasons. In 1993, Rusty
pulled off 10 wins during a 30 race season, but came up shy of the
Championship that year and finished second in the standings to strong
rival, Dale Earnhardt. For the 1997 season, the sponsorship
switched from the Miller Genuine Draft brand to the Miller Lite brand
and the colors went from the familar black and gold to blue and white.
1998 brought Rusty's only win at Daytona...but it wasn't a Cup
race...it was the Bud Shootout.
In his total career, Rusty won a total of 55 cup
wins
with his final win coming in the spring of 2004 at Martinsville
Speedway. Rusty is tied for 8th on NASCAR's all-time wins list.
